Seven personal questions to ask before getting married
Getting married is a huge decision. It’s not one to be taken lightly, and it’s important to ask yourself some tough questions before making your final decision. If you can answer these questions honestly and thoughtfully, you’ll be in a much better position to make the right choice for yourself and your future spouse!
Do you truly love and respect your partner?
This is probably the most important question of all. If you can’t say yes to this one, it’s likely that your marriage won’t be a happy and healthy one. Respect is so important in a relationship, and without it, love will quickly fade away. Make sure you take the time to really think about this question before you answer it.
What are your expectations for marriage?
It’s important to have realistic expectations for marriage. It’s not going to be perfect all the time, and there will be ups and downs. But if you go into it with a positive attitude and realistic expectations, you’ll be much more likely to weather the tough times and come through them even stronger.
What are you willing to sacrifice for your partner?
Marriage is all about compromise. There will be times when you’ll have to put your partner’s needs ahead of your own, and you need to be okay with that. If you’re not willing to make sacrifices for your relationship, it’s likely that marriage isn’t right for you.
Do you want children?
This is a big one. If you’re not on the same page with your partner on this issue, it can cause some serious problems down the road. Make sure you talk about it openly and honestly before getting married, so there are no surprises later on.
Are you financially compatible?
Money is often a trouble spot in a marriage. If you’re not on the same page financially, it can cause a lot of tension and arguments. Before you get married, make sure you’re both on the same page in terms of your financial goals and expectations.
Do you have similar values?
Values are so important in a relationship. If you don’t share the same core values, it’s going to be very difficult to find happiness together. Make sure you take the time to discuss your values with each other before getting married.
Do you trust each other?
Trust is absolutely essential in a marriage. If you can’t trust your partner, it’s likely that your marriage won’t last. Make sure you take the time to build trust before getting married, so you can start your marriage off on the right foot.
Answering these seven questions honestly will give you a much better idea of whether or not marriage is right for you. If you can say yes to all of them, it’s a good sign that you’re ready to take the next step. But if you have any doubts, it’s important to listen to them and make sure you’re making the right decision for yourself. Only you can know what’s best for you, so trust your gut and do what feels right!
